San Diego Merchants Have a New Way to Market

San Diego Outlet Market exists for one reason: to present a unique and affordable marketing system to small businesses that will maximize sales.

There's been an explosion of inventory that small merchants need to have the opportunity to move. Pressures from a slowing economy and big box discounters are causing entrepeneurs to "think out side the box".

We are building unique profit tools for the local entrepeneuer:

1. A unique shopping experience at Qualcomm Stadium

2. An on-line presence that makes it easy for the consumer to find the seller.

3. A monthly live Auction to move inventory

4. Barter among members to conserve cash

Today, many local businesses are spending money on a lot of advertising that frankly just doesn't work. Most people see this as 1. yellow pages 2. newspapers and 3. high rent. What we want to do is to give them an opportunity to express themselves locally and by doing so, better compete against the big box stores and get more bang for the advertising buck.

See nobody wants a Wal-Mart on the corner. Everybody wants to go there to buy something, but if you are a small business, the last thing you want is Wal-Mart to come suck the life out of your neighborhood. The problem is that the big guys like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Starbucks are using their clout to beat up the little guy. When in fact, the little guy should be using the their smaller size advantages to beat up the big guy and to take back what is uniquely theirs. They are the only people who are uniquely local and have the opportunity to provide unique local service and uniquely local perspective on community issues and solve local customer's problems.

What we want to do at San Diego Outlet Market is allow small merchants to leverage unique marketing opportunities and use high resources (like Qualcomm Stadium and the Internet) to fight back against the big guys. Our vision is to have several hundred small merchants expressing themselves, marketing themselves and cooperatively advertising and merchandising locally. And by doing this, to actually change the local shopping experience so that when you do a local searching and shopping , you're not finding the 25 local Starbucks which frankly no one cares about, but instead you are finding the unique local shops that make your town the kind of unique place that it is.

We allow them to create a "unique second store" at Qualcomm Stadium, web advertisement, and a web description of their business.

For a merchant who comes on to join our team, what we are really offering them is the opportunity to express themselves and have lots and lots of local people to see those expressions.

There is an enormous opportunity for both the consumer and for the advertising business of bringing the local merchant on-line and to the San Diego Outlet Market. The consumer wants to find things local. By bringing merchants on board, we are making the consumer experience better. And for the advertising dollar, this is the most bang for the buck- where else can you invest such a small amount to get in front of thousands of new prospective customers?

We are in this for the long term. We have done our home work and are anxious to join with those small business who are ready for more success.
